Hmto Food Industries intends to introduce several new products as part of its active participation in the 28th Gulfood 2023 Exhibition.
Hmto Chairman, Hussein Abbas, said that research and innovation have become the company's weapons to confront the challenges witnessed by the global economy. “As the leading company in the manufacture of dry sweets, waffles, chocolate, lollipops, gum, etc. we realized that the only way to tur the current ordeal into an opportunity is by working on finding different solutions that maintain the company's upward growth rates,” he said.
Abbas added that the company has deployed modern systems across its production lines to raise capacities, increase the efficiency of its production, and become more competitive, which will necessarily be reflected in an increase in the volume of exports during the coming period.
He noted that the company has been participating annually in the Gulfood exhibition over the past 10 years to communicate with its existing customers and introduce its products to new potential customers, whether in its existing or new markets.
As part of Hmto’s participation in this year’s Gulfood Exhibition, Abbas said that it will introduce new products, including new varieties of gum, marshmallows and biscuits.
He also stressed the company’s interest in expanding exports, which has become a compulsory trend in light of the difficult challenges posed by recent global conditions, and the consequent abnormal jump in production costs, noting that the expansion of exports must be matched by greater reliance on low-cost domestic production inputs, provided that they are of high quality, to serve as a substitute for imported raw materials, whose prices have doubled over the past months.
He told Commodity Market, in an interview, that the company is keen to participate in specialized international exhibitions, whether inside or outside Egypt, as part of its endeavor to increase its foreign exports, in order to be able to acquire new customers in addition to increasing its relationship with its old customers, while also getting acquainted with the latest developments reached by modern technology in the food industry sector.
He pointed out that the company recently participated in the Food Africa Exhibition in its seventh session and was also keen to attend the 11th session of ISM Middle East exhibition specialized in the manufacture of sweets, baked goods and snacks, which was held in the Dubai World Trade Center.
He explained that the company has a team for research, development, and market study, in order to constantly innovate new products, according to the needs of the local and foreign markets, while also improving its current line up of over 130 products.
Regarding the most prominent target markets during the current year, Abbas said that Hmto Food Industries aims to increase the share of its exports from its total sales, to return to pre-coronavirus level, indicating that his company plans to invade the markets of East Asian countries during the current year, in addition to its endeavour to enhance its presence in the African market and access to all countries of the brown continent.
