The Food Export Council plays an essential role in providing export opportunities for Egyptian companies
HMTO Food Industries aims to increase its exports during the current year by expanding exports to East Asian and African markets, through the company's participation in international exhibitions and trade missions organized by the Food Export Council and Egyptian commercial representation offices.
Hussein Abbas, Chairman of HMTO Food Industries, said that exports accounted for 40% of the company's total sales during the past year, compared to 60% of sales before the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, which the company seeks to recover to pre-pandemic levels by the end of this year.
HMTO Food Industries aims to enter the markets of East Asian countries this year, in addition to expanding in African markets and reaching all countries of the brown continent, in which the company is already strongly present.
Abbas said that he seeks to bring the company's exports to pre-pandemic levels and to further expand with new products that rely on modern mechanization that will enable it to implement the requirements of some foreign countries that require certain specifications for importing food products.
He explained that the goal of this mechanization is to increase production capacities, raise the efficiency of production and increase products' competitiveness, which will necessarily be reflected in an increase in the volume of exports during the coming period.
He stressed that the company is constantly participating in the Gulf Food Exhibition in Dubai, to hold meetings with the company's current customers, gain new customers, introduce visitors to the company's latest products, and learn about the latest modern technology in the food industry sector.
He added that Gulf Food Exhibition is the largest specialized exhibition in the Middle East and is the second-largest food exhibition in the world, with tens of thousands of visitors annually, from all over the world.
He explained that the new government export subsidy program allocated additional export support to the African market, which is a strong incentive for Egyptian companies to increase the volume of their business in the African markets, which is in line with the state's general policy to strengthen trade relations with the countries of the African continent.
Abbas stressed that the Food Export Council made a great effort this year and organized many workshops and trade missions, especially for African markets, which works to increase the sector's exports.
