The Food Export Council aims to send nine commercial missions to many African and Asian countries during the current year. The "train" of commercial missions was launched from Kenya with the participation of 21 companies of the Council's members. The second station is scheduled to be Jordan in After the next Ramadan.
Mai Khairy, Executive Director of the Food Export Council, said that the Council plans to send trade missions this year to (Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Ghana, Senegal and Morocco, in addition to Saudi Arabia).
She explained that Jordan's mission targets buyers from Jordan, Iraq and Syria, as Jordan is the main gateway to enter the three countries' markets, and four missions were sent last year to Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania.
She stated that the council brought in the largest buyer delegation in Egypt in 2021 on the sidelines of Food Africa, with a total of 350 international buyers from various countries of the world.
Khairy also said that the last edition of the Food Africa 2021 exhibition facilitated attracting buyers from different countries, including African countries, as well as Jordan, Palestine, and the Arab Gulf. She pointed out that the products that are in high demand in African markets include sugar, edible oils, vegetable ghee, pasta, and tomato sauce, as well as canned food, dry sweets, juice concentrates, and yeasts. She said that the council is aware of the importance of all global markets to Egyptian exports, as the council is working to increase the share of Egyptian exports in traditional markets as well as working to explore and open new export markets.
She explained that the trade missions organized by the council come after analyzing the Egyptian food trade data and analyzing the structure of the imports of the target markets, in addition to coordinating with the commercial representation body, business groupings and economic entities in the targeted countries .
She said that the council is working to provide marketing studies and export opportunities in cooperation with the commercial representation agency, as well as export analysis to direct Egyptian companies on the most important markets and average export prices.
Khairy explained that the council seeks to benefit from commercial agreements such as COMESA, Agadir, Mercosur and others by spreading awareness of these agreements and their importance and how to benefit from them, in addition to introducing companies to the opportunities available in those markets .
